The Big Association Festival
Associations are the social backbone of a city. The Family Festival at the Weberei makes this backbone visible: sports, music, cultural, social, and traditional associations come together to present themselves, attract new members, and offer Varel families a day full of activities.
The Weberei as a Venue
The historic Weberei on Oldenburger Straße is an architectural landmark of Varel and a reminder of the city's industrial history. Today, it serves as a venue and hosts the Family Festival with its outdoor and indoor areas.
30 Associations, Two Stages
Around 30 associations set up stands, present hands-on stations, and introduce themselves. Show blocks alternate on the large outdoor stage and the weather-protected indoor stage: dance groups, karate groups, choirs, music associations, and much more.
Playground, Boules, and Basketball
A large playground is set up for the children, along with boules, basketball, and other sports activities to try out. Many associations offer taster sessions – ideal for discovering new hobbies.
Family-Friendly and Free
Admission to the Family Festival is free. Only consumption at the stands is at cost price. This makes the festival a very welcome event, even for young families.
Family Festival Weberei — edition 2026
The 2026 edition is eagerly awaited, as the Family Festival returns in full swing after a two-year break. The Weberei, with its spacious outdoor and indoor areas, offers all 30 associations ample space to present themselves appropriately. The weather is not a problem: in case of rain, the program moves indoors.
For many Varel families, the festival is a must-attend event in the summer and also a place to explore association offerings and find new activities for the children.
