Ahrensfluchtermoor Marksmen's Club

The Ahrensfluchtermoor Marksmen's Club preserves the Low German marksmen's tradition in one of the districts of Hemmoor in the southern Cuxhaven district. Like many village clubs in the region, it is an important pillar of social life and a hub for active shooting sports.

Independent Festivity

The annual marksmen's festival at the club's own shooting range is clearly distinct from the larger general marksmen's festival of the SV Ahrensfluchtermoor-Hemmoor, which is celebrated every year on the third weekend of July with a grand program. The event described here is the club-internal and local festivity – somewhat smaller in scope, but with the same significance for the members and the neighborhood.

Shooting Competitions and King's Shoot

The focus is on the shooting competitions for the club's royal title. Marksmen compete on the shooting range, and the proclamation of the new marksmen's king or queen is the social highlight of the event.

The club provides catering itself – with hearty home-style cooking, cold drinks, and the typical atmosphere of a North German marksmen's festival. The close, personal ambiance distinguishes the event from larger folk festivals and makes it an authentic experience.

The municipality of Hemmoor is primarily known for its cement industry history, documented in the local industrial museum. Visitors to the marksmen's festival can combine their stay with a trip to the Kreidesee, a former quarry lake with crystal-clear water, or to the industrial museum.
