Low German Marksmen's Festival in the Hemmoor Shooting Range Ahrensfluchtermoor
The Ahrensfluchtermoor Marksmen's Club preserves the Low German marksmen's tradition in one of the districts of Hemmoor in the southern Cuxhaven district. Like many village clubs in the region, it is an important pillar of social life and a hub for active shooting sports.
The annual marksmen's festival at the club's own shooting range is clearly distinct from the larger general marksmen's festival of the SV Ahrensfluchtermoor-Hemmoor, which is celebrated every year on the third weekend of July with a grand program. The event described here is the club-internal and local festivity – somewhat smaller in scope, but with the same significance for the members and the neighborhood.
The focus is on the shooting competitions for the club's royal title. Marksmen compete on the shooting range, and the proclamation of the new marksmen's king or queen is the social highlight of the event.
The club provides catering itself – with hearty home-style cooking, cold drinks, and the typical atmosphere of a North German marksmen's festival. The close, personal ambiance distinguishes the event from larger folk festivals and makes it an authentic experience.
The municipality of Hemmoor is primarily known for its cement industry history, documented in the local industrial museum. Visitors to the marksmen's festival can combine their stay with a trip to the Kreidesee, a former quarry lake with crystal-clear water, or to the industrial museum.
The 2026 edition continues the club's annual tradition. The Ahrensfluchtermoor shooting range will become a meeting point for members and neighbors for a day or a weekend of celebration. Shooting competitions, the proclamation of the king, hearty catering, and a social gathering form the program.
Located in the southern Cuxhaven district, the festival visit can be well combined with an excursion to the Kreidesee Hemmoor or the local cement industry museum.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Shooting range of the Ahrensfluchtermoor Marksmen's Club, Hemmoor, 21745 (Cuxhaven district).
Accessible by car via the B73. Hemmoor is located between Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven. Parking available at the shooting range.
The exact date for July 2026 will be announced by the club in spring. Current information at biunsinnorden.de.
Admission is traditionally free. Food and drinks in the clubhouse are subject to payment.
Not to be confused with the larger general marksmen's festival of the SV Ahrensfluchtermoor-Hemmoor (3rd weekend of July).
