Family festival in Petzow Castle Park on Cycling Sunday with open-air chess and castle museum
Petzow is a district of Werder (Havel) directly on the Schwielowsee – one of the most idyllic corners of the Havelland. The Petzow Castle Park was designed in the 19th century by the renowned landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné – a garden with a lake view, a black mulberry tree avenue, and the characteristic Schinkel church in the background.
The park festival takes place on the traditional Cycling Sunday in September, expected on September 13, 2026 (the exact date will be confirmed in the event calendar of the city of Werder in good time). It is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m..
Cycling Sunday is an initiative in the Berlin commuter belt where main traffic routes are selectively closed and cyclists are given priority. Many visitors arrive by bike – a relaxed tour from Werder or Caputh train station through the Havelland landscape.
The organizer is the Heimatverein Petzow e.V. in cooperation with Petzow Castle and the city of Werder. The association has been committed to the maintenance of the castle park and the cultural revitalization of the district for years. Free admission.
