Getting there

You can reach Werder (Havel) with the RE1 from Berlin Hauptbahnhof in about 35 minutes. From Werder station, Petzow can be reached by bike or bus in 15–20 minutes. On Cycling Sunday, it's ideal to come by bike.

Schlosspark by the Schwielowsee

Petzow is a district of Werder (Havel) located directly on the shores of the Schwielowsee—one of the most idyllic spots in the Havelland region. The Schlosspark Petzow was designed in the 19th century by the renowned landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné, featuring a garden with lake views, an avenue of black mulberry trees, and the iconic Schinkel church in the background.

What is Bicycle Sunday?

Bicycle Sunday is an initiative in the Berlin metropolitan area where major roads are temporarily closed to prioritize cyclists. Many visitors arrive by bike, enjoying a relaxing ride from the Werder or Caputh train stations through the beautiful Havelland countryside.

The event is hosted by the Heimatverein Petzow e.V. in cooperation with Schloss Petzow and the city of Werder. The association has been dedicated to maintaining the palace park and fostering local culture for years. Admission is free.
