Street art on 6 stages in downtown Perleberg
PerleBÄM! was founded in 2022 by Kulturkombinat Perleberg e.V. — as a response to the lack of visibility for contemporary street art in rural Prignitz. Unlike the major street art festivals in Brussels or Ferrara, PerleBÄM! focuses on an authentic, regional approach: street artists from Northern Germany, the region, and beyond perform at six locations in the city center — usually one after another, allowing the audience to wander from square to square.
The performance venues are the historic squares and streets of Perleberg: the Großer Markt with the famous Roland statue from 1498, the Kirchplatz by St. Jakobi Church, the Schuhmarkt, Bäckerstraße, and Mühlenberg. Additionally, there is a craft market on Poststraße. The division into multiple venues prevents large crowds in one place and invites strolling — Perleberg's medieval urban structure is part of the festival experience.
The program includes the full range of street art: acrobatics (circus arts, aerial acrobatics, diabolo), street theater (classical and experimental), music (from classical to indie-folk), juggling, comedy, slapstick, and magic. Artists from Berlin, Hamburg, Poland, and rural Brandenburg initiatives shape the lineup. Free admission to the entire festival — artists rely on hat donations and voluntary contributions from the audience.
The 5th edition of PerleBÄM! will take place in 2026. In just four years, the festival has established itself as a significant cultural event in Prignitz and on the Northern German street art calendar. Those planning a long May weekend will find a rare combination of high-caliber art, small-town atmosphere, and one of Northern Germany's most beautiful medieval city centers. Travel from Berlin via RE6 in 1 hour 30 minutes.
From Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31, 2026, Kulturkombinat Perleberg e.V. will once again transform the historic city center of the Rolandstadt into an open stage for street art. Over three days, artists from the region and beyond will present the full spectrum of street art.
Six performance venues are spread across the historic city center: Großer Markt (with the famous Roland statue from 1498), Kirchplatz, Schuhmarkt, Bäckerstraße, and Mühlenberg. Additionally, there is a craft market on Poststraße. The division into multiple venues invites strolling — Perleberg's medieval urban structure is part of the festival experience.
