The whole village celebrates
The village of Diesten is located in the southern Lüneburger Heide and belongs as a district to the municipality of Faßberg. With only around 250 inhabitants, Diesten is a classic heath village – and the Schützenfest is by far the most important event of the year. Instead of a high-traffic major event like in the cities, the Schützenfest in Diesten is a real village festival in which almost the entire population participates or at least celebrates.
Season opener for the Celle district
In 2026, the Schützenfest in Diesten is the first Schützenfest of the season in the Celle district. The village thus opens the long series of Schützenfeste that run from April through to the summer in the district. For marksmen's clubs (Schützenvereine) from the region, participation in the Diesten festival parade is a matter of honor and at the same time the starting signal for their own season.
Classic Schützen program
The classic program points are maintained over three days:
- Festival parade through the village with all marksmen's corps
- King's shooting and proclamation of the king
- Festival tent with catering and dancing
- Children's Schützenfest for the youngest participants
- Frühschoppen on Sunday
- Accompanying snacks and catering

The 2026 Schützenfest will take place from Friday, April 24th, to Sunday, April 26th, 2026. The venue is the festival grounds in Diesten (Faßberg district).
