Traditional city festival of the Roland town in the Prignitz region
Perleberg is the district town of the Prignitz district in northwest Brandenburg and is one of the oldest Hanseatic towns in the region. The historic old town is centered around the Großer Markt with the Perleberg Roland — a wooden statue from 1498 symbolizing the town's market freedom and jurisdiction. At over five meters high, it is one of the largest and oldest Roland figures in Germany and the town's landmark.
The Roland Festival is Perleberg's annual city festival and a highlight in the Prignitz event calendar. Spread over two days — usually the second weekend in September — the historic old town becomes a large festival mile. The stage in the Hagen, one of the central squares in the city center, forms the musical heart, complemented by a funfair with rides, market stalls, and catering. The festival is one of the classic North German city festivals — down-to-earth, convivial, with a long tradition.
The talent show "Die Chance — on Tour" will make a stop in Perleberg during the Roland Festival 2026. The stage show, hosted by Antje Klann, gives regional talents the opportunity to present themselves to the audience — singing, comedy, acrobatics. The program is complemented by live bands on the Hagen stage, gastronomic stands, and the traditional funfair offerings in the city center.
Anyone visiting Perleberg should take time for the historic old town: St. Jacobi Church, the Town Hall with the City Museum, the Brick Gothic architecture, and the remnants of the medieval city fortifications. The town is a starting point for tours through the Prignitz, one of Germany's most sparsely populated regions with vast heath and forest landscapes, the Elbe Cycle Route, and the Stepenitz river. The Roland Festival provides the perfect occasion for a long September weekend in this underestimated Brandenburg region.
On Friday, September 11, and Saturday, September 12, 2026, the city of Perleberg invites you to its traditional city festival in the historic center. The Großer Markt, the stage in the Hagen, and the surrounding squares will become a festival mile centered around the famous Roland from 1498.
The highlight in 2026 is the talent show "Die Chance — on Tour", hosted by Antje Klann. Regional talents will showcase their skills on the Hagen stage — singing, comedy, acrobatics. The program will be complemented by live music, a funfair with rides, gastronomic stands, and traditional market activities in the old town.
