Castle Festival — edition 2026
32nd Penzlin Castle Festival 2026
From August 21 to 23, 2026, the Old Castle Penzlin will transform into a medieval stage for the 32nd time. In front of the castle, knights will set up their camp – between a giant wooden water wheel, Viking boats, and a newly built wooden siege engine.
Friday evening kicks off with a band night featuring music and a fire show. On Saturday and Sunday, knights, nobles, craftspeople, jugglers, and actors will gather at the castle. Highlights include the knighting ceremony and theatre performance by the Penzlin Castle Nobility, the combat and theatre show by the Order of the Black Knights, and the fire show »Araga Mysteria« in the evenings. Axe throwing, archery, trampoline jumping, historical carousels, a mini Ferris wheel, and a marble run complement the programme.

Medieval Times at the Old Castle
The Old Castle Penzlin in the Mecklenburg Reuter town in the Mecklenburg Lake District is one of Northern Germany's most impressive historical sites. It is famous for its Museum of Everyday Magic and its Witches' Cellar, which documents the history of witch hunts. Once a year, on an August weekend, this castle transforms into a medieval stage: the Penzlin Castle Festival.
A Knight's Camp with History
In front of the castle, knights set up their tents – between a giant wooden water wheel, Viking boats, and a newly erected wooden siege engine. On Saturday and Sunday, knights, nobles, craftspeople, jugglers, artists, and actors gather in the historic castle grounds. The camp life brings the everyday life of past centuries to life.

A Tradition Since the 1990s
The Penzlin Castle Festival looks back on a long history and has been a firm fixture in the town's event calendar for decades.
