Franconian Wine Festival in Bayreuth City Centre
The Bayreuth Wine Festival takes place on the market square in the pedestrian zone of the independent city of Bayreuth in Upper Franconia, Bavaria. In the middle of the city centre of the Wagner city, a convivial wine mile is created over several days, focusing on Franconian wine culture.
Four Franconian vintners present their products at the wine stalls: Höhn from Volkach, Behringer from Abtswind, Goger from Sand am Main, and Schmitt from Bergtheim. A total of around 40 different wines invite you to discover the diversity of Franconian grape varieties – and the vintners are on-site for advice and conversation.
A daily entertainment program with live music from the Weinfest stage accompanies the festival. Several restaurateurs offer regional dishes that perfectly complement the Franconian wine. This creates a relaxed atmosphere of enjoyment and celebration in the city centre.
The festival is organized by Bayreuth Marketing & Tourismus GmbH, the Fränkischer Weinbauverband (Franconian Winegrowers' Association), and Zametzer & Krohn. The official opening traditionally takes place in the presence of a Franconian Wine Princess. Admission is free.
