Summer special edition of the Schotten Evening Market
Schotten is located in the Vogelsberg district, nestled in the largest volcano in Central Europe and at the gateway to the nature park of the same name. The small town with around 10,000 inhabitants is of interest in terms of tourism and sports history – as the Schottenring, Schotten was a regular venue for international motorcycle races in the 1950s and 1960s, a tradition that is still carried on today in the form of classic racing events.
The Schotten Evening Market is a weekly market concept that takes place in the Schotten market square not in the morning, but in the late afternoon and evening – with farmers, regional vendors, food stalls, drinks, and usually live music. The idea behind it: revitalizing the city center, a meeting place after work, a different kind of market than the classic weekly market. The summer special edition on July 10, 2026, is an expanded version with a concert program.
On July 10, 2026, the Summer Festival will take place from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Marktstraße / at the Historic Town Hall / at Europaplatz. The program includes: live music by John Grey, dance performances, a children's program, as well as stalls with food, drinks, and cocktails. The next special edition is announced for August 14, 2026 – "Kick-off to the racing weekend" around the classic Schottenring.
The venue is Marktstraße with Schotten's Historic Town Hall and Europaplatz. The 16th-century town hall with its half-timbered upper floors forms an impressive backdrop for the market stage. Admission is free.
Schotten thrives in the summer with a dense sequence of events – Schottenring races, town festivals, markets. The Summer Festival of the Evening Market is the non-motorsport highlight in July and brings together the city center and its residents.
