Garden Fair with Castle Scenery
The Gartenfest Laubach is one of the most beautiful garden and lifestyle fairs in Hesse. The venue is the historic landscape park of Laubach Castle, the seat of the noble family of Solms-Laubach. For three days, the white pagoda tents of around 130 selected exhibitors are spread out among the old trees and paths of the park – an atmosphere that is hard to find in Hesse with this blend of historical significance and modern gardening.
What is exhibited
The offer covers the entire spectrum of garden, lifestyle, and outdoor living:
- Plants: Roses, Mediterranean plants, rare perennials, trees, and shrubs
- Outdoor furniture: Seating sets, lounge furniture, gazebos
- Outdoor kitchens: Grills, smokers, pizza ovens, outdoor modules
- Garden accessories: Sculptures, fountains, light installations
- Culinary delights: Jams, honey, regional specialties
In 2026, the exhibition area in the lower castle section was expanded – more space for exhibitors, more opportunities to linger.
Laubach Castle and its Park
Laubach Castle is the seat of the Counts of Solms-Laubach – one of Hesse's oldest noble families, with a lineage stretching back over a thousand years. The English-style landscape park was created in the 19th century, featuring old oaks, lindens, beeches, and a stream. The garden festival uses this backdrop as an integral part of the experience – exhibitors set up their pagodas among the trees, and the park becomes an accessible showroom.
Day Ticket or Weekend Pass
The day ticket costs €11 on-site (€9 reduced), and is cheaper in advance. Children up to 17 years have free admission – a friendly family concept for a fair of this caliber. It is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm.
Laubach – A Small Town with a Large Park
Laubach, in the Gießen district, has around 10,000 inhabitants, is located in the Hessian Vogelsberg foothills, and is easily accessible via the A45 (Sauerland connection). The castle dominates the town center – visitors to the garden festival can also explore the adjacent castle itself, the Wettsaal Library (one of Hesse's most important private libraries), and the historic old town.
