Open-air town festival at the Rittergut with duck race
The Park- und Teichfest is the town festival of the small town of Kitzscher in the Leipzig district – an area characterised by former open-cast lignite mines and the current lake landscapes of the Leipziger Neuseenland. The venue is the historic Rittergut Kitzscher (Bornaer Straße 21), where the park and pond become a summer festival stage for two days.
The festival combines the typical elements of a Saxon open-air town festival:
Kitzscher is located in the south of the Leipzig district, on the edge of the Leipziger Neuseenland. Visitors to the festival can combine their stay with trips to Hainer See, Markkleeberger See, or the neighbouring town of Borna. The former lignite mining landscape has transformed into a remarkable region of lakes and local recreation in recent decades – a piece of Saxon structural change to experience.
The 2026 festival continues the tradition of the Park- und Teichfest. Central to the event is the 11th Kitzscherer Entenrennen on Saturday, May 30, 2026: plastic ducks will be released from the bridge over the Eula. Live music, moderate prices, and an open-air atmosphere with weather protection characterise the family weekend.
