Traditional Farmers' Market at the Heimathaus — September 13, 2026, 10 AM to 6 PM
The Settrup Farmers' Market is an institution in the northern Osnabrücker Land — the 28th edition in 2026 confirms the enduring popularity of this annual autumn market. The event is organized by the traditional Heimatverein Settrup (Settrup Heritage Association), which organizes the festival with volunteer commitment.
The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, September 13, from 10 AM to 6 PM at the Heimathaus Settrup, Am Bahnhof 2, 49584 Fürstenau. A focused market day, running from early morning to late afternoon, attracting thousands of visitors.
The hallmark of the Settrup Farmers' Market is the live demonstrations of traditional crafts: glassblowers show the processing of hot glass, potters shape bowls and jugs before the visitors' eyes, weavers demonstrate the old craft of weaving, blacksmiths forge glowing iron on the anvil, and beekeepers explain honey production. This turns the market into a vibrant open-air craft museum.
At the market stalls, farmers and farm processors present their products: honey, cheese, meat and sausage products, eggs, baked goods, juices, apple wine, jams, preserves, herbs, and spices. Direct marketing in its most consistent form — from the farm to the consumer.
The small animal market offers chickens, rabbits, pigeons, and other small farm animals. An exhibition of historical machinery — tractors, threshing machines, old plows, and agricultural equipment — showcases the technical development of agriculture. Thus, the market offers not only consumption but also a piece of agricultural education.
Settrup is a farming community within the town of Fürstenau in the Artland foothills and has created a supra-regional highlight in the annual calendar with its farmers' market. What began as a small local festival is now a magnet for thousands of visitors from all over northern Lower Saxony.
