Frankfurt's New Open-Air Format

OURS Open Air has quickly become one of the most important venues for electronic music in the Rhine-Main region. The location is an area directly on the Main in Frankfurt's Ostend, at Franziusstraße 35, in close proximity to the Kaiserlei bridge interchange. The location is internally called "Blaues Wasser" – due to the turquoise pool atmosphere and the lawn areas set up for the season.

Community over Everything

The organizer's motto – "Community over Everything" – is more than a marketing slogan. OURS consistently focuses on affordable tickets, early entry times, and an audience recruited not by bouncer selection, but by identification with the musical mission. It works: the OURS crowd tends to be older, calmer, and more musically discerning than at some comparable Frankfurt open-air series. There are no VIP areas, no champagne boxes – just the meadow, the stage, and the water.

High-Caliber Electronic Music

The programmatic line is ambitious: House, Techno, live acts from the electronic avant-garde. The 2026 season kicks off on May 1st with Swedish Robert Johnson resident Anna Hjalmarsson and the Berlin duo Modeselektor (live). June will feature Âme DJ, Cinthie, Ellen Allien, Gregor Tresher, Henrik Schwarz (live), Karotte, and Len Faki. July culminates in a Steve Bug b2b Josh Wink set, which is considered a highlight of the season given the historical significance of both DJs.

Format: Day to Night

The OURS events usually start in the early afternoon (from 2 PM) and run into the night. This dramaturgy is deliberately chosen: those who arrive at noon experience the open-air format in its full breadth – from the sun-drenched set to the sunset highlight to the nighttime headliner. Afterparties in Frankfurt clubs will follow on select dates. This model distinguishes OURS from classic festivals and positions it between a club night and a festival weekend.

Ostend as the Location Choice

Frankfurt's Ostend is not the venue by chance. Since the ECB moved, the district has become a symbol of urban development – from an industrial area to a mixed district with high-rises, galleries, and clubs within 15 years. OURS adds a cultural open-air format to this transformation, utilizing the Main riverbank area without overwhelming the residential neighborhood. It is an urban festival format that is typically Frankfurt in its urban planning: dense, well-thought-out, with a view of the water.

Frankfurt's Electronic Tradition

The fact that OURS works in Frankfurt has a reason: the city is one of the birthplaces of German techno. Dorian Gray, Omen, Robert Johnson, Sven Väth's Cocoon universe – Frankfurt's contribution to electronic music over the last 40 years is significant. OURS builds on this tradition without merely quoting it. The bookings reflect the international elite, not Frankfurt's heritage.
