Volksfest in the Monastic Town of Ottobeuren
The Ottobeurer Fescht is the summer Volksfest (public festival) of the market town of Ottobeuren in the Unterallgäu district of Bavaria. Ottobeuren is known far beyond the region for its magnificent Benedictine Abbey and Basilica – a landmark of Bavarian Baroque. Against this backdrop, the market town traditionally celebrates its Fescht on the first weekend of July.
Convivial Festival Mile in the Town Center
Over the weekend, usually Friday and Saturday evenings, the town center transforms into a convivial festival mile. Local clubs provide catering with Allgäu and Franconian-Swabian specialties, accompanied by music and entertainment. The Fescht is part of the tradition of Allgäu folk and town festivals, which also include the Memminger Fischertag and the Memminger Stadtfest.

Ottobeurer Fescht — edition 2026

As usual, local clubs will provide catering with Allgäu specialties, music, and entertainment in the town center. The final program and times will be announced by the Ottobeuren Tourist Office in advance. Note: The Fescht had to be canceled in 2024 due to weather conditions – this was a one-time weather-related cancellation, not an discontinuation of the event.

Ottobeuren is located about 10 km south of Memmingen. By car via the A 7 (exit Woringen or Bad Grönenbach), then follow signs to Ottobeuren. Parking available in town.
