Erkheim Volksfest

A Club Festival with Over Five Decades of Tradition

The Erkheimer Volksfest is one of the classic club festivals of Bavarian Swabia. For decades, the organizer has been the Musikkapelle Markt Erkheim e.V., one of the most active brass music associations in Unterallgäu. The 58th edition was celebrated in 2025 – accordingly, the 2026 edition continues the tradition as the 59th edition. Programmatically, the festival stands for "lived village community" and a diverse music program.

The Four-Day Structure

• Friday — young program with “Rock meets Brass": Brass bands combine folk music with rock cover hits, usually starting at 7:30 PM
• Saturday — classic brass music party with friendly music associations from the region and party brass bands
• Sunday — the family day: Frühshoppen in the morning with brass music, coffee and cake in the afternoon, evening concert
• Monday — festival finale starting at 6:00 PM with the motto “Erkheim, wie es singt und lacht" (Erkheim, as it sings and laughs)

Market on Sunday

Sunday also features a market with stalls from local vendors – crafts, food, clubs. This mix of beer tent and market makes the Erkheim Sunday particularly well-attended in the surrounding area.

Beer from Kronburg

Traditionally, beer from the nearby Kronburger Brauerei is served – a small, traditional brewery in the neighboring municipality of Kronburg (Unterallgäu district). In the 2025 program, beer from the Gold Ochsen brewery from Ulm was also partially offered. In addition, there are regional pub dishes.

Erkheim and the Unterallgäu Region

Erkheim is a market town in the Unterallgäu district with around 3,500 inhabitants, located southwest of Memmingen. The region is characterized by the pre-Alpine landscape of the Allgäu and has a strong tradition of brass music and clubs. The Erkheimer Volksfest is one of the central summer community events here.
