Highlight of the Southern Palatinate Summer Festival Season

August is the month of major summer and wine festivals in Southern Palatinate. The Rülzheim Summer Festival joins a multitude of festivals that take place in the region in August: Rheinzammer Markt, Hatzenbühl Summer Night Festival, Zeiskamer Kirwe (a type of folk festival), and many others. The Rülzheim Summer Festival has established itself as a supra-regional event and is aimed at visitors from the entire region.

Festival Tent, Amusement Rides, and Club Beer Gardens

The Rülzheim festival grounds are well-equipped: a large festival tent offers space for the evening dances, a fairground with amusement rides entertains families, and club stands provide refreshments. Bumper cars, a children's carousel, a shooting gallery, candy stalls, and possibly other amusement rides form the range of attractions. Live bands and DJ sets create the atmosphere in the evenings.

Palatinate Club Cuisine

The Rülzheim clubs – sports club, fire department, music club, carnival society, church parish – run the festival catering. Classic Palatinate specialties such as Saumagen, Bratwurst, Flammkuchen (a type of flatbread), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Sauerkraut, fries, and desserts complement the drinks with Palatinate wine from surrounding vintners, draft beer, and Schorle (a mixed drink, typically wine or fruit juice mixed with sparkling water).

Rülzheim – Large Municipality in Southern Palatinate

With around 8,000 inhabitants, Rülzheim is one of the larger municipalities in the Germersheim district and the seat of the Rülzheim administrative district. The municipality is located between Germersheim and Kandel and is easily accessible by train and via the A65 motorway and the B9 federal road. Alongside the Spring Festival, the Summer Festival is the central event in the Rülzheim event calendar.
