Fireworks and laser show on Grömitz beach — the Baltic Sea resort's summer highlight
"Ostsee in Flammen" is one of the most famous fireworks events on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast and the absolute summer highlight in Grömitz's event calendar. The organizer is Tourismus Service Grömitz, which has been equipping the weekend with increasingly elaborate stage programs for years. The combination of beach location, five stages spread across the promenade, and a grand finale fireworks display makes the format an attraction for thousands of guests from Schleswig-Holstein, the Hamburg surrounding area, and beyond.
The eve, Friday, August 28, 2026, is transformed into a warm-up party: there will be live music on the beach promenade, and the pier forecourt will become a stage for a laser show in the evening. The atmosphere is relaxed and summery, local restaurateurs open their outdoor terraces, and day guests mingle with spa guests.
On the main evening, Saturday, August 29, five stages will be spread along the entire beach promenade:
Food trucks and street food stalls will be scattered along the promenade — from Sylt specialties to seafood, burgers, and cocktails, the full range is represented.
At 10:45 PM, the spectacular main fireworks display begins: for about 20 minutes, the sky over the Baltic Sea will be bathed in all colors by pyrotechnics. The fireworks are launched from the pier — the beach between the pier and the Dünenpark is the ideal viewing spot. Thousands of guests gather on the beach, in the surf, and on the promenade.
With around 7,000 inhabitants, Grömitz is one of Schleswig-Holstein's largest and most popular Baltic Sea resorts, located in the Ostholstein district on the Bay of Lübeck. In summer, the population doubles and triples due to holiday guests. "Ostsee in Flammen", along with the harbor, the pier, and the beach, is the most important tourist attraction in summer and attracts additional day-trippers from Lübeck, Kiel, and Hamburg.
"Ostsee in Flammen" 2026 will be held as a two-day event, as in previous years, with a clear distinction between the warm-up and the main evening. The organizer is Tourismus Service Grömitz. A total of five stages will be spread along the beach promenade — from Seestern to Dünenpark.
