Opening concert of the Open Air Park Düsseldorf on July 10, 2026 with System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age and Acid Bath
On July 10, 2026, the new Open Air Park Düsseldorf will open with a concert unlike anything seen in the region before: System of a Down – the Armenian-American crossover metal icons around Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian – will play their NRW stop of their 2026 European stadium tour in Düsseldorf. In the supporting program: Queens of the Stone Age (Josh Homme), followed by Acid Bath. Three generations of American heavy rock on one stage, concert start 6:30 PM.
The Open Air Park Düsseldorf is a permanently installed open-air concert venue with around 80,000 seats, located on the Lausward between the Rhine, Düsseldorf harbor, and the Düsseldorf-Lausward power plant (with its characteristic blue cladding). Planned from 2024 by Live Nation Germany in close coordination with the City of Düsseldorf, the park was completed for the 2026 season after several postponements (including a planned AC/DC opening concert in 2025). Düsseldorf is thus responding to the increasing scarcity of large open-air areas in the Ruhr and Rhineland.
System of a Down is touring European stadiums in 2026 for the first time since 2017. The tour follows their sold-out North and South American tours in 2025. Expect the immortal classics Chop Suey!, Toxicity, Aerials, B.Y.O.B., Hypnotize, Lonely Day as well as the political songs Prison Song and Sugar. The Armenian Genocide remembrance remains a common thread in every concert of the band.
With Queens of the Stone Age, the stoner rock kingmakers around Josh Homme will be on stage as special guests at each of these stadium slots. Expect No One Knows, Go With the Flow, Little Sister, The Way You Used to Do, Smooth Sailing. The evening will be opened by Acid Bath – the Louisiana sludge legends, reformed after 30 years.
Regular standing room tickets are available via Eventim. Live Nation offers two Comfort Experience packages: Golden Circle 1 with standing room in the premium zone, reserved parking, separate entrance, open bar (beer, wine, soft drinks), lounge area, own restrooms, and food voucher; Seat (Aisle) with a seat by the aisle and the same amenities.
The Open Air Park uses the „Event Mobility“ concept: A central platform bundles information on public transport, shuttle buses, bicycle parking, and car parking spaces with the aim of relieving the surrounding residential areas. Recommended: Travel by Düsseldorf U-Bahn / S-Bahn to Düsseldorf Hbf, then shuttle. By car, central parking in the harbor areas.
First major live event at the new Düsseldorf Open Air Park – a double premiere: for the band on their 2026 European stadium tour and for the new venue.
