Bad Krozingen — Spa Town with a Concert Setting

Bad Krozingen is located in the Markgräflerland region in southern Breisgau (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, AGS 08315), about 15 kilometers south of Freiburg im Breisgau. The spa town is considered one of the leading thermal baths in Southern Germany. Its Kurpark, with centuries-old trees, the classicist Kurhaus, and the central concert shell, has been the venue for the “Open Air im Park" open-air concert series since 1999 — a preferred stage for Schlager, Pop, Rock, and Classical concerts.

Festival of Lights as the Opener — July 17 to 19, 2026

The 2026 season opens from July 17 to 19 with the traditional Festival of Lights in the Kurpark. Thousands of lights, lanterns, and candles will bathe the entire park in a magical illumination. Live music, culinary offerings, and a lantern parade for children will complement the program. The Festival of Lights is a cross-generational family highlight and one of the most well-attended dates of the year in Bad Krozingen.

Concert Evenings July and August 2026

• July 30 — Freiburger Barockorchester — Classical Music Under the Open Sky
• August 1 — Spider Murphy Gang — Rock'n'Roll with Bavarian Flair

Each evening has its own character — from the Schlager Gala with Kerstin Ott (known for “Die immer lacht") to the hard rock double concert by The Sweet (UK Glam Rock) and The Lords (German beat pioneers), to the classical highlight with the renowned Freiburger Barockorchester. The finale will be performed by the Munich cult band Spider Murphy Gang with hits like “Skandal im Sperrbezirk" and “Schickeria" — Rock'n'Roll classics that get the audience singing along.

An Established Series Since 1999

Open Air im Park has been running since 1999, making it one of the oldest open-air series in the southern Black Forest and Markgräflerland. The organizer is Kur und Bäder GmbH Bad Krozingen, a municipal company. The mix of classical concerts, Schlager, and Rock reflects the spa town's demographics and attracts audiences from all over Breisgau, Alsace, and Northern Switzerland.
