Four-day Oktoberfest in the Spessart village of Westerngrund
The Oktoberfest of the Kolpingkapelle Westerngrund — the Westerngründer Musikanten — is a fixture in the event calendar of the Bavarian Untermain region. In the festival tent on the festival grounds in Westerngrund, a municipality in the Aschaffenburg district on the border with Hesse, the village celebrates an Oktoberfest with live music, brass music, and festival tent atmosphere for four days. The festival finances the club's activities and is also a meeting point for the region.
The Oktoberfest runs from Friday to Monday and follows a tried-and-tested schedule:
The program combines traditional brass music with modern festival tent entertainment. Well-known party bands from Austria and Germany provide the atmosphere on the evenings, while Sunday is dedicated to brass music with invited guest bands. Monday is traditionally the quieter, more family-oriented festival day with Frühschoppen and free beer.
Westerngrund is located in the hintere Kahlgrund on the edge of the Spessart, in the Aschaffenburg district. The Oktoberfest is one of the most important festivals in the municipality and a flagship event for the Westerngründer Musikanten. A visit can be combined with a hike through the Spessart or an excursion to the nearby Kahlgrund.
For the 26th time, the Kolpingkapelle Westerngrund invites you to its traditional Oktoberfest. From Friday, October 9, to Monday, October 12, 2026, the festival tent on the festival grounds will be the scene of celebration. The kick-off on Friday features AlpenLausa and the Q6 Band. Saturday follows with the official opening and beer tapping, followed by AlpenLausa and i-DÜPFERL. Sunday begins with a festival service and Frühschoppen brass music and is dedicated all day to the "Day of Brass Music" with guest bands and free admission; in the evening, Rhythm 'n' Blech will perform. Monday brings the traditional Frühschoppen, a free beer hour, an afternoon program for families and seniors, and in the evening, the festival concludes with the WÜRZBUAM, with free admission.
The festival grounds are located in Westerngrund in the Aschaffenburg district. By car via the A45 (exit Alzenau) or via Schöllkrippen into the hintere Kahlgrund. By train via the Kahlgrundbahn to Schöllkrippen, then continue by bus or taxi to Westerngrund.
Admission to the evening events with party bands costs around 20 Euros per ticket; children and adolescents under 14 years of age have free admission. The "Day of Brass Music" on Sunday and the festival conclusion on Monday evening are free of charge. Advance ticket sales around the end of July.
Adolescents under 16 years of age require supervision by a responsible adult for evening events; from the age of 16, entry is permitted until midnight.
Large festival tent with catering, food, and drinks. On Sunday and Monday, a family-friendly program with Frühschoppen, brass music, and a free beer hour.
