Aachen's big spring fair on Bendplatz — 17 days, Davy Jones Delirium, Wilde Maus, Ferris Wheel „Juwel“
When spring arrives in the Rhineland, the Öcher Osterbend comes with it. On the Bendplatz at Süsterfeldstraße, the large festival area in the Hangeweiher district transforms into an amusement park that runs for over two weeks, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from Aachen, the region, and even from Belgium and the Netherlands. "Öcher" — in Öcher Platt for "Aachener" — is the name of the festival, as it is deeply rooted in Aachen's city life.
The 2026 edition runs from Saturday, April 4th to Monday, April 20th, 2026 — thus over the Easter weekend plus additional days. Daily from 2:00 PM:
On the last day, Monday, April 20th, 2026, there will be the grand closing fireworks around 10:00 PM. Before that, from 2:00 PM onwards, there will be a 30 percent discount on all rides until 7:00 PM — those who come on the last day are doubly lucky: bargains and spectacle.
Aachen has two major folk festival dates each year: the Öcher Fastelovvend (Carnival, intangible UNESCO cultural heritage) in winter and the Öcher Osterbend as its spring counterpart. Both use the designation "Öcher" — the typical Aachen self-identification — and are firm anchors of the city's identity.
Aachen is located in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the border with Belgium and the Netherlands. As the seat of Charlemagne, with Aachen Cathedral as a UNESCO World Heritage site and RWTH Aachen as a major technical university, Aachen is a culturally and scientifically multifaceted city. The Bendplatz is located in the Hangeweiher district, easily accessible by public transport from the city center.
The 2026 edition features the established mix of major rides and several themed offers: Children's Days, Family Days with 50% discount, Sensitive Day with reduced light/sound, and the grand finale with 30% discount and fireworks. The organizer is Eurogress Aachen.
