Rheinhessen wine in the Allgäu spa park with mountain panorama
Wine tastings against a mountain panorama: that's the special charm of the Oberstdorf Wine Festival. For three days, the spa park of Oberstdorf — Germany's southernmost municipality, gateway to the Allgäu Alps — transforms into a mini wine shop. Three traditional wineries from Rheinhessen travel here every August and present their best wines. An unusual and appealing combination of the Allgäu mountain scenery and Rheinhessen wine culture.
All three will be present in the spa park on all three festival days from 4 p.m. onwards — direct tasting with the winemakers themselves, without intermediaries.
The range extends from dry white wines (Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rivaner) to classic red wines (Pinot Noir, Merlot, Portugieser) and noble sweet specialties, selected sparkling wines from winemakers, and wine distillates. Those who love Rheinhessen wine will find an amazing selection here directly from the producers.
The Oberstdorf spa park, located at the Oberstdorf Haus, in close proximity to Prinzregenten-Platz, forms the backdrop. In the background are the Allgäu mountains — Nebelhorn, Fellhorn, Söllereck — which rise directly above the spa park. This creates a rather unique atmosphere for a wine festival in Germany: the culinary South meets Alpine character.
Oberstdorf is located in the Oberallgäu district (State of Bavaria, 09780), Germany's southernmost market town, surrounded by the Allgäu High Alps. With the Heini-Klopfer ski flying hill and the Four Hills Tournament, Oberstdorf is internationally known as a winter sports resort. The wine festival at the end of August marks the transition from summer to autumn tourism.
From Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 4 PM to 10 PM daily, the wineries Brummund, Freitag, and Theis from Rheinhessen will present their wines in the Oberstdorf spa park — against the majestic backdrop of the Allgäu High Alps. Free admission, takes place in any weather.
Live music will accompany the wine tasting on all three evenings: Wildbock on Friday, The Rubberneckers on Saturday, and the Musikkapelle Oberstdorf on Sunday from 6:30 PM.
