About St. Anna Kirmes

The St. Anna Kirmes is the most traditional funfair in Gerolstein's Eifel calendar. From Friday, July 31 to Monday, August 3, 2026, two fairgrounds in Gerolstein – on the Kyll riverbank and on the former post office parking lot – will transform into a colorful folk festival town. Confirmed highlights 2026: Breakdance, Auto Skooter, a Disney-style children's carousel, and the popular Treasure Island carousel for kids. The keg tapping ceremony will take place on Friday, July 31 at 7:30 PM by Mayor Steffi Lorisch. The highlight for visitors will be the spectacular Dolomiten in Flammen fireworks. Special offers will be available on Family Monday. Admission to the fairgrounds is free.

The St. Anna Kirmes Gerolstein has been a cornerstone of the ecclesiastical and social festival calendar of the Eifel town for centuries. It honors St. Anna, the mother of Mary and patron saint of the town. Beyond its religious tradition, the St. Anna Kirmes has developed into the largest folk festival of the summer in Gerolstein.

Two Fairgrounds – Double the Kirmes Area

Unusual for a town of this size: The St. Anna Kirmes uses two fairgrounds:

  • Fairground at the Kyll Riverbank: Classic location with a river atmosphere, main concentration of large rides.
  • Former Post Office Parking Lot: Expanded fairground with additional rides and stalls.

This division creates space for a particularly extensive offering.

Confirmed Attractions 2026

  • Breakdance: The iconic, counter-rotating high-speed ride – a classic for adrenaline junkies.
  • Auto Skooter: The indispensable classic for families and teenagers.
  • Disney-Style Children's Carousel: Themed carousel for the little ones, designed in a Disney style.
  • Treasure Island Carousel: Children's carousel with a pirate and treasure island theme.

Keg Tapping Ceremony by Mayor Steffi Lorisch

The official opening takes place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 7:30 PM with the traditional keg tapping ceremony by Mayor Steffi Lorisch. This ritual symbolizes the official opening of the Kirmes and marks the start of four days of folk festival atmosphere.

Dolomiten in Flammen – The Fireworks

The highlight of the Kirmes is the spectacular Dolomiten in Flammen fireworks. With the surrounding Eifel hills as a backdrop, the fireworks unfold their special visual effect. The name is inspired by the well-known natural spectacle of the Dolomites – adapted in Gerolstein with a pyrotechnic staging.

Family Monday with Discounts

On Monday, August 3, 2026, it's Family Monday with discounts on many rides. This makes the last day of the Kirmes particularly attractive for families with children.

St. Anna – Patron Saint of the Town

St. Anna (July 26) gives the Kirmes its name. The religious anchoring in the church year gives the event its special identity: folk festival and patron saint's day in one.
