Trail running over four days, five distances, two countries — Bavaria and Tyrol
The Oberaudorf Trail Festival (OTF) was founded in 2024, making it one of the youngest trail running festivals in the Alps. The venue is Oberaudorf — a Bavarian pre-Alpine village on the Inn River, right on the border with Tyrol. The diverse alpine terrain around Oberaudorf — from the flat Inn Valley, over rolling hills, to the cliffs of the Kaiser Mountains and the Brünnstein — provides the ideal stage for a trail running festival with a variety of distances.
The 2026 program features the festival's widest range of distances to date:
The routes lead through the Inn Alps region between Bavaria and Tyrol — crossing the border in parts, gaining altitude in the surrounding mountains (Brünnstein, Wendelstein area, Kaiser Mountains foothills). The scenic diversity — from high moorlands and alpine meadows to rocky passages — makes the OTF one of the most visually attractive trail festivals in Southern Germany.
Austrian sports equipment manufacturer Dynafit is the main sponsor and also shapes the festival content — with equipment testing, consultation zones, and an expo area for sports outfitters and the trail community. In addition, there is live music, a live podcast (with prominent voices from the trail community), catering, and relaxation areas. The festival is not just a competition, but a meeting point for a growing alpine trail running community.
Oberaudorf is a municipality in the district of Rosenheim, directly on the Inn River at the border with Tyrol. With about 5,000 inhabitants, it is a classic pre-Alpine tourist village with the Hochfelln cable car, an adventure park, and a ski resort. The OTF utilizes the tourist infrastructure and the alpine natural scenery for a modern sports festival format that complements the traditional tourism identity of the place.
The third edition of the OTF comes with a significant expansion: for the first time, the festival offers a 100K Ultra race — the premier distance in trail running, which places the OTF among the major alpine trail festivals. This fulfills the organizers' ambition to offer a comprehensive range of distances — from beginner trails to ultra-trails.
The routes will be finalized on the website in the weeks before the festival. The festival grounds in the town center open on Thursday with the pasta party and live podcast, while the competitions are spread over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — with the Ultra as the highlight on Saturday/Sunday.
Oberaudorf is located on the A93 (Inntalautobahn, Oberaudorf exit), directly on the Austrian border. By train, get off at Oberaudorf station (Munich–Kufstein line), with regular connections from Munich and Tyrol.
Registration and route maps are available at oberaudorftrailfestival.com. Entry fees vary depending on the distance and registration date. Early bird discounts are common.
Pasta party on the eve of the event, live podcast, concerts at the festival grounds, Dynafit expo with equipment advice. The festival grounds in the town center are freely accessible, even for non-runners.
Hotels and guesthouses in Oberaudorf and the surrounding area. Early booking is recommended — the festival fills up the region's accommodations.
