The Nordstern Folk & Fire Festival is taking place for the first time in 2026. The venue is the open-air grounds directly next to the Stadthalle Bremerhaven at Wilhelm-Kaisen-Platz – a central location in the city center, within walking distance of the main train station and the Havenwelten. The organizer is Mein LIEBLINGS Event GmbH, which aims to establish a new brand of North German summer festivals with this premiere.

Three Bands, Four Hours of Live Music

The musical mix lives up to the festival's name: Folk and Fire. The headliner is In Extremo, one of the defining bands of German medieval rock, which has been combining bagpipes, shawms, and hurdy-gurdies with metal riffs for over three decades and is famous for its pyrotechnic shows. Before them, visitors will experience Fiddler's Green from Erlangen, pioneers of Irish Speedfolk, whose mix of violin, accordion, and punk energy is considered pure festival euphoria. Rauhbein, a folk-rock band with emotional lyrics and singalong anthems, will kick things off. In total, you can expect four hours of live music, complemented by fire effects and pyro shows.

Local Context

Bremerhaven, the sister city of the Hanseatic city of Bremen, has been a fixture on the North German open-air scene for years. With the Nordstern Festival, a gap is being filled between the major medieval festivals of the republic and the maritime program at the Weser estuary. Those who arrive earlier on the festival day can visit the Havenwelten, the German Emigration Center, and the German Maritime Museum.
