Pentecost in the Breibachtal
The Breibachtal — a small valley between Nordheim and Schwaigern, in the district of Heilbronn — has been home to the local riding club since 1962. At the riding facility on the edge of the valley, the club organizes its traditional riding tournament every year over Pentecost — three days of show jumping, combined with a classic festival atmosphere on the green meadow. In 2026, Pentecost falls on the weekend of May 23rd to 25th, and the tournament traditionally follows these Pentecost days.
Show Jumping Competitions up to M-Level
The Nordheim Riding Club is a classic South German show jumping club with a tradition. The tournament features show jumping competitions of various difficulty levels — from E and A style jumping for junior riders to L, M*, and M jumping with higher obstacles for performance-oriented riders. The M-level jumping competitions are a clear highlight of the tournament and attract show jumpers from all over Württemberg. The tournament is organized by the Reiterverein Nordheim 1962 e.V. — the club's founding in 1962 gives the club its name.
Three Days of Festival Atmosphere
- Pentecost Saturday, May 23rd — Start 10 AM, festival until 11 PM
- Pentecost Sunday, May 24th — 10 AM — 10 PM
- Pentecost Monday, May 25th — 10 AM — 6 PM, final jumping competition and award ceremony
Catering and Festival Tent
The riding club provides catering throughout the entire tournament — a tradition that is one of the Nordheim tournament's great strengths. Bratwurst from the charcoal grill, schnitzel, Spätzle, salads, and cakes from local baking clubs are the culinary constants. A festival tent bar with beer and wine from the Heuchelberg region runs late into the evening. The riding club annually invests the festival proceeds in maintaining the facility and supporting youth development.
Heuchelberg and Wine Region
Nordheim is located in the district of Heilbronn, on the western edge of the Heuchelberg — one of the most important wine-growing regions in Württemberg. Visitors to the riding tournament should combine their visit with a hike on the Heuchelberg hiking trail, a wine tasting at the Heuchelberg cooperative winery in Schwaigern, or a stroll through Nordheim. Schloss Heinsheim and the nearby town of Brackenheim — home of former Federal President Theodor Heuss — are also attractive destinations in the region.
