Traditional Kelterfest of the Music Association — Hopfensitz returns, three days of Bierhaus, party night and Frühschoppen
The Kelterfest Walheim is one of the oldest and most traditional village festivals in the northern Ludwigsburg district. From Friday, September 25th, to Sunday, September 27th, 2026, the Musikverein Walheim e.V. will transform the historic Kelter — the old communal wine press house in the middle of the village — into a three-day festival tent. The concept is typical for the village: eating, drinking, listening to brass music, and meeting neighbors together.
Special news for 2026: After a two-year break, the traditional Hopfensitz will take place again on Friday evening. During the Hopfensitz, the people of Walheim celebrate the Bierhaus tradition — a Maß of beer comes into the festival tent, accompanied by the famous Göckele (grilled chicken). The Hopfensitz is a classic Swabian beer festival format that has a tradition in many Württemberg villages and is being revived in many places after a Corona and post-Corona break.
Saturday evening features the party night, which traditionally marks the highlight of the festival. A live band provides dance music for all generations — from Schlager to party hits to rocking cover songs. The Kelter is converted into a festival tent with long rows of tables and space for 400 to 500 festival guests.
Sunday starts calmly: ecumenical service in the morning, celebrated jointly by the Catholic and Protestant communities. Afterwards, a Weißwurst breakfast in the Bavarian tradition (Weißwurst, sweet mustard, pretzel, Weißbier), followed by the classic Frühschoppen with brass music from the Musikverein Walheim and friendly associations. Coffee and homemade cake in the afternoon — the Swabian housewives of the village provide sheet cakes, a central tradition of every rural festival.
Walheim is a municipality with just under 3,000 inhabitants in the Ludwigsburg district, located directly on the Neckar river. The village belongs to the Württemberg wine-growing region — the slopes around the village are planted with Trollinger, Lemberger, and Riesling. The Kelter itself is a historical testament to the village's wine-pressing tradition; it was preserved after the end of communal use and now serves as an event space. The Musikverein Walheim e.V. is one of the central pillars of the community life, and the Kelterfest is its annual highlight.
From Friday, September 25th, to Sunday, September 27th, 2026, the traditional Kelterfest of the Musikverein Walheim e.V. will take place in the historic Kelter in the village center. Three festival days in a row — Hopfensitz, party night, Frühschoppen with service and brass music.
The highlight in 2026 is the return of the Hopfensitz after a two-year break: the Bierhaus tradition with Maß beer and grilled Göckele kicks off the weekend on Friday evening.
Admission to the Hopfensitz and party night with seat allocation (free choice or small contribution). Frühschoppen and Sunday program admission free. Food and drinks at festival tables at typical folk festival prices.
