Neighborhood Festival for the Neckarstadt

Three Districts, One Festival

The Neckarstadt is the northernmost of Mannheim's inner city districts, characterized by the Neckar river and the dense inner-city development of the squares. It is administratively divided into Neckarstadt-West, Neckarstadt-Ost, and Wohlgelegen, as well as Herzogenried — a network of residential areas with a mixed social structure, many families from migration backgrounds, and a strong sense of community life. Three city district offices of Mannheim (for Herzogenried, Wohlgelegen, Neckarstadt-West) and the Herzogenried Community Association have jointly established the neighborhood festival — a conscious statement for neighborhood cohesion and neighborly coexistence.

Neighborhood Festival 2026 from 2 PM

The 2026 Neighborhood Festival will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM. The venue will be the Mittelstraße/Neckarpromenade district axis in Neckarstadt-West — the exact location will be announced in advance on mannheim.de. Catering will be provided by local associations, and the stage program and hands-on activities will be coordinated by the district offices. Characteristic of Mannheim neighborhood festivals: culinary and musical diversity that reflects the migrant spectrum of the Neckarstadt — Turkish, Moroccan, Russian, Italian, German.

Participate, Celebrate Together

Neighborhood festivals in Mannheim have been part of a municipal program to strengthen district identity since the 1990s. Mannheim has over 30 neighborhood festivals per year — each organized by a district office with local associations. The Neckarstadt Neighborhood Festival is one of the larger ones, as it brings three districts together, thus mobilizing broader participation than a single block.
