Largest Volksfest in the Metropolitan Region

The Mannheimer Maimess is one of the most traditional spring Volksfests in Southern Germany – and ranks among the top events in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region. 16 days long, around 160 showman businesses and food stalls, two fireworks displays, three discounted special offer days – the Maimess sets the standard in size.

New Messplatz at Herzogenriedpark

The venue is the Neue Messplatz at Herzogenriedpark in the Neckarstadt-West district. The grounds have been modernized in recent years and are now designed for large events with tram connections, pathways, utilities, and lighting. The Herzogenriedpark in the background offers recreational space between the rides.

Program for the 16 Days

Opening on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 5 PM with the traditional tapping of the first beer keg by the Lord Mayor. Afterwards, the festival runs daily until May 10. Two highlights: the fireworks on May 1 and the fireworks on May 8, both at 10 PM. "Happy Mondays" (April 27, May 4) offer discounted ride prices; on Family Days (April 30, May 7), rides are half price.

Opening Hours

Sunday to Thursday: 1 PM–11 PM. Friday, Saturday, and public holidays: 1 PM–12 AM (midnight). The Maypole on April 30 and May 1 (public holiday) ensure peak visitor numbers.

Mannheim — City of Squares and Industrial Hub

The Maimess attracts visitors from all over the Rhine-Neckar area every year – from Heidelberg to Ludwigshafen, from Bergstraße to Speyer.
