Trimbs belongs to the Vordereifel collective municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district and is picturesquely located between Mayen and the Eifel plateau. As in many Vordereifel and Eifel villages, the annual Kirmes (fair) is the most important social event of the year, bringing together the entire community – young and old, clubs, families, and guests.
The weekend of June 27th to 29th, 2026, will transform the center of Trimbs into a festival ground. A marquee will be erected, small rides and fairground stalls for children will be set up, and local clubs will prepare their catering stations. The Trimbs Volunteer Fire Brigade, the local sports and music clubs, and other groups are actively involved and share the organizational effort.
The program follows the proven Maifeld and Eifel Kirmes structure. Friday evening starts with the official opening and a first marquee evening, often with a DJ or party band. Saturday brings the big festival evening with live music – frequently a regionally known cover or dance band – and a high occupancy of the marquee. Sunday is dedicated to the morning pint (Frühschoppen) with brass music, a midday meal featuring traditional Eifel cuisine, and a family afternoon with coffee, cake, and children's activities.
The culinary side is characterized by hearty Rhineland-Palatinate tradition: bratwurst and steaks from the grill, shashlik, fries, potato pancakes (Reibekuchen), Mosel wine, and regional beer dominate the offerings. Some clubs are known for their specialties – a Cordon Bleu from the sports club, homemade cakes from the rural women's association (Landfrauen), freshly baked waffles from the fire brigade. These small culinary highlights make every village fair unique.
The Trimbs Kirmes is not just a celebration, but an important identity-forming event that renews the residents' connection to their village. For Eifel holidaymakers seeking an authentic glimpse into village life, a Kirmes like the one in Trimbs is a recommended opportunity to encounter the region and its people.
