A Festival of Encounter

The Treuchtlingen Festival of Cultures has been a firm fixture in the event calendar of the Middle Franconian town of Treuchtlingen for over fifteen years. On May 1st, the historic Fischergasse transforms into a vibrant place of encounter where people of diverse origins present themselves with music, dance, and culinary specialties.

A Program from Around the World

The festival opens at 11 AM with an ecumenical service, followed by a welcome address from the mayor and songs by the Treuchtlingen singing club founded in 1837. Afterwards, the stage offers a diverse program:

• Country, Pop, and Rock in the afternoon
• Latin American dances by the intercultural association
• Line dance performances
• Traditional folk dances of the Transylvanian Saxons
• Live musicians in the afternoon, interspersed with sports acrobatics
• The juggling group from Lebenshilfe Altmühlfranken

Culinary Diversity

Around a dozen stands offer international cuisine: from Hungarian and Sicilian specialties to bratwurst and Middle Eastern baklava, plus coffee and cake. Information and hands-on stands invite exchange and make the festival an experience for the whole family.

Treuchtlingen is located in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen on the edge of the Altmühltal Nature Park and the Franconian Lake District. The Festival of Cultures underscores the town's cosmopolitan self-image and is an example of the vibrant integration work in the Altmühlfranken region.
