Franconian Kirchweih Culture in One Place
The Total Franconian Kirchweih Meeting is a traditional event that brings together Kirchweih and Kerwa societies from all over Franconia. In traditional costumes, with Plootz (a type of cake), Kirchweihbaum (Kirchweih tree), and dance, the groups present the regional diversity of the Franconian Kirchweih – that traditional village and town festival which holds a special cultural significance in Franconia.
Embedded in the Day of Franconia
The fourth edition takes place as part of the Day of Franconia 2026, which is organized by the district of Middle Franconia in cooperation with the city of Treuchtlingen. The Day of Franconia commemorates the division of the Holy Roman Empire into ten Imperial Circles in 1500 – at that time, the Franconian Imperial Circle was created, which institutionally anchored Franconian unity for the first time. The guiding theme for 2026 is "Cultural Landscapes".
Treuchtlingen as Host
Treuchtlingen in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen lies at the intersection of three natural areas: the Altmühltal Nature Park, the Franconian Lake District, and the Ries Geopark. The town thus offers an atmospheric backdrop for the traditional gathering and the guided experience tours through the cultural landscapes of Middle Franconia.
Total Franconian Kirchweih Meeting — edition 2026
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, Treuchtlingen will host the Day of Franconia and will thus also be the venue for the 4th Total Franconian Kirchweih Meeting. From 9 AM to 6 PM, Kirchweih and Kerwa societies from all over Franconia will gather to celebrate Franconian Kirchweih culture with traditional costumes, dance, and music.
The Day of Franconia 2026 is themed "Cultural Landscapes" and is organized by the district of Middle Franconia in cooperation with the city of Treuchtlingen. Accompanying this, guided experience tours through the cultural landscapes of Middle Franconia will be offered with landscape conservation experts.
