Abraxas-Triathlon Aachen

35 Years of Triathlon Tradition

With its 35th edition in 2026, the Abraxas-Triathlon Aachen is one of the most traditional triathlon events in North Rhine-Westphalia. Organized by the Brander Schwimmverein 1973 e.V., it is the annual highlight for the broadly sports-oriented southern part of Aachen and attracts athletes from the entire Meuse-Rhine Euregio. Date 2026: Sunday, May 3, starting at 10:00 AM.

Classic Sprint and Supersprint Distances

The Abraxas-Triathlon is explicitly a popular sports triathlon: low entry barrier, multiple distances, family format. The program includes:

• Youth (14–17 years) — Sprint with 0.5 km swimming, 22 km cycling, 5 km running
• Juniors (18–19 years) — Sprint individual start
• Children (8–13 years) — adapted short distances depending on age group
• Adults (Everyman / Age Groups) — Sprint and Supersprint, individual and relay
• Aquathlon — Swim + Run, without cycling course

The Supersprint distance with 0.20 km swimming, 8.40 km cycling, and 2.30 km running is ideal for getting started in the sport. Everyman start for adults: 39 Euros.

Swim, Bike, Run — All in Brand

The disciplines take place in close proximity to each other — this makes the competition logistically relaxed and spectator-friendly:

• Swimming — Aachen-Brand indoor pool
• Cycling — Circuit through the Brand residential area
• Running — Brand field (recreational area)

Aachen-Brand — The Southern District

Brand is a district of Aachen in the southern part of the city, traditionally characterized by the textile industry. Today, it is a residential district with good infrastructure. The Brander Schwimmverein is the central sports institution: swimming sports promotion, triathlon section, children's and youth work. With the indoor pool and the Brand field, the district offers ideal conditions for a compact triathlon.

Aachen — Sports in the Three-Country Corner

Aachen is located in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the three-country corner with Belgium and the Netherlands. The Aachen Region is sportively active — in addition to triathlon events, the CHIO Aachen (equestrian sport) and the Aachen popular triathlons are fixed dates in the regional sports calendar.
