One of the event highlights in the Spreewald — neighbourhood festival with the motto “Wir für Lübbenau” — Saturday, 12 September 2026, 1 PM–11 PM
When the first notes ring out over the Energieweg in Lübbenau at 1 PM on Saturday, 12 September 2026, one of the most beautiful days in Lübbenau's event calendar begins: the Lindenfest der Lübbenaubrücke. The neighbourhood festival has been held for over twenty years — and in that time has become one of the central summer highlights of the Spreewald. The festival motto “Wir für Lübbenau” stands for social cohesion in the town and region, for celebrating together beyond social and cultural boundaries.
In 2026, the festival will once again take place on the Energieweg — between the historic Lokschuppen and the Roter Platz. The choice of this location is programmatic: industrial architecture meets urban space, an area with its very own character that has been deliberately developed as a cultural space in recent years. In 2025, the town of Lübbenau/Spreewald, together with WIS (Wohnungsgenossenschaft Lübbenau) and GWG (Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbaugesellschaft), decided to relocate the festival to this site — a conscious enhancement of the urban space through a major event.
What has always made the Lindenfest special is the mix of professional stage acts and lovingly curated performances by local artists. Over ten hours of programming are spread across a main stage and smaller performance areas along the Energieweg. Live bands, DJ sets, dance groups, performances by local school and club ensembles, walking acts, and entertainment for children create a packed programme that extends from the bright afternoon into the late night. The complete programme with band names and times will be published on lindenfest.com in the summer of 2026.
The daily schedule offers something for every age group: in the afternoon, the family programme runs with interactive activities for children, games, small stage performances, and a market. In the evening, the festival shifts to the concert and dance programme with live bands and finally a DJ set until 11 PM. Food and drink stalls will be available throughout the day — from classic sausages and Spreewald specialities to vegetarian and vegan options.
Lübbenau/Spreewald, located in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, is the central town of the northern Spreewald — known for its canal tours by punt boat, its Sorbian-Wendish culture, and the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The town has just under 16,000 inhabitants. The Lindenfest is one of the largest urban events outside the peak summer weeks focused on tourism — a festival by and for the people of Lübbenau, but also open to day visitors from Cottbus, Berlin, and the entire Lausitz region. Free admission.
The main organiser is the Lübbenaubrücke e.V. association, which has been organising the festival on a voluntary basis for years. It is supported by the town of Lübbenau/Spreewald, WIS, and GWG. The combination of civil society engagement and municipal support gives the Lindenfest its special character — not an urban top-down city festival, but a community festival that has grown organically.
