Neighbourhood festival in the Lübbenau station district — 2nd edition from June 5th to 7th, 2026, free admission
With around 16,000 inhabitants, Lübbenau is the second-largest town in the Spreewald and is considered the gateway to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is known for its punt boat tours from the Großer Hafen and Kleiner Hafen harbours, Spreewald delicacies, and the historic old town around the castle district. The station district in the north of the town — between the train station, Topfmarkt, and Karl-Marx-Straße — was for a long time a little-noticed part of the city. In recent years, the town has upgraded the neighbourhood: cafés, small shops, community offices, and a new forecourt concept at the station. The BahnhofsviertelFestival is the latest element of this neighbourhood renewal.
The festival is part of the Lübbenau Summer of Culture, a curated programme of events by the town that fills the summer with various formats (concerts, open-airs, neighbourhood festivals, family days). The 2nd edition of the BahnhofsviertelFestival will take place from June 5th to 7th, 2026. For three days, the district will be transformed into a festival backdrop: lively music in the evening, a colourful family programme during the day, creative surprises, and regional artists on stage. The exact programme will be published by the Summer of Culture team in the weeks leading up to the event and communicated on the festival website.
The slogan "We for Lübbenau!" is the programme: the festival is not intended as a tourist spectacle, but as a neighbourhood festival. Clubs, initiatives, schools, and local artists are at the forefront. The concept works: the 1st edition in 2025 established the festival as one of the most vibrant neighbourhood events in Brandenburg. In 2026, this tradition continues — with the aim of involving new participants every year and making the neighbourhood more visible.
Lübbenau is accessible from Berlin in about 1 hour by RE 2 train — the BahnhofsviertelFestival is literally on the doorstep: the district around the train station. Those who want to combine the festival with a weekend in the Spreewald will find guesthouses and holiday apartments in the old town and surrounding villages. A punt boat tour in the Großer Hafen in the morning, the festival in the afternoon and evening, Spreewald gherkins and linseed oil for dinner — a perfect Pentecost excursion.
After a successful premiere in 2025, the BahnhofsviertelFestival returns for the second time in 2026. Three days of neighbourhood festival in the upgraded district around Lübbenau station. The organisers are expanding the concept: more stages, more interactive formats, more regional participants. The specific schedule — stage times, artist selection, interactive programme — will be communicated by the Lübbenau Summer of Culture in the weeks before the event on the festival website and the town's event page.
