Every year in June, the Güstrow Town Festival transforms the historic market square of the Barlach town into a vibrant festival mile. In front of the classicist facade of Güstrow's town hall, in the heart of the Mecklenburg residence town, locals and guests celebrate for three days with live music, club stands, showmen, a traders' and gourmet mile. From the youthful kick-off on Friday, through the big family Saturday, to the traditional Sunday morning pint, the festival showcases the full spectrum of Güstrow's town life.

The Güstrow Town Festival 2026 is traditionally planned for the third weekend in June. The historic market square and the adjacent old town alleys will be transformed into a three-day festival mile with live music, clubs, traders, and showmen. The exact date and the complete program will be announced by the Güstrow Business Association in good time before the festival.

The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of previous years: Friday evening youth program with bands and DJs, Saturday a big family day with children's entertainment and a gourmet mile, Sunday a traditional morning pint finale. The Güstrow Business Association e.V. is once again responsible for the organization, putting together the program in collaboration with the Barlach town. Current information and the complete stage program will be published on the websites of the town and the business association.

Getting There

Train: Güstrow station on the Berlin–Rostock line, a ten-minute walk from the station to the old town.

Car: A 19 (Berlin–Rostock), Güstrow exit; parking available at Pferdemarkt, Hagebuttenplatz, and the stadium. Road closures around the market during the festival.

Entry to the festival mile is free. Food, drinks, and fairground rides are paid for on-site.

Tip

Combine the town festival with a boat trip on Inselsee lake or a visit to Wildpark MV. Book hotels in the old town well in advance, as the weekend is in high demand.

The Volksfest of the Barlach Town

When the stages around Güstrow's market square are set up on the third weekend in June, the town looks forward to one of its most beautiful traditions. The Güstrow Town Festival has been the social highlight in the summer calendar of the residence town in the Rostock district for decades and is one of the largest town festivals in all of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Location: Market Square and Old Town

The venue is the market square in front of the classicist facade of Güstrow's town hall, characterized by brick Gothic architecture, patrician houses, and the narrow alleys of the old town around the parish churchyard. This historic setting makes the town festival a special experience: live bands play in front of centuries-old gables, traders and artisans present their wares along Domstraße and Mühlenstraße, and families stroll between carousels, bratwurst stands, and cocktail bars.

Three Days, Three Moods

Friday evening – Kick-off with youth program: Live music from regional bands, dancing, and DJs on the stages around the market square.
Saturday – Big family day with children's entertainment, stage program for all generations, club and sports presentations, gourmet mile.

More Than a Festival – A Showcase of the Town

The town festival is organized by the Güstrow Business Association e.V. (Speicherstraße 9). Güstrow bands, clubs, sports teams, educational institutions, and companies from the region use the weekend to present themselves. The traders' mile combines regional producers from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with classic showmen – from handmade jam and Mecklenburg fish to carousels, Ferris wheels, and dodgems.
