Electronic open-air festival on the idyllic Fichtelsee in the nature park
The Fichtelgebirge is the northernmost low mountain range in Bavaria – a wooded mountain range with granite rocks, high moors, clear lakes, and sparse population. The Fichtelsee near Fichtelberg is one of the best-known natural attractions: a small mountain lake at an altitude of 757 m, nestled in dense spruce forest. This setting makes the Naturraum Open Air a special festival.
The name says it all: Naturraum Open Air combines electronic music culture (House, Techno, Deep, Melodic) with the natural scenery of the Fichtelgebirge. Instead of urban industrial locations, the festival takes place on the lake shore – with a view of water, forest, and mountains. Long summer evenings, clear air, an intimate festival community.
The event spans one day – typically 12 noon to 1 AM. DJ sets and occasional live acts alternate on a main stage. The lineup represents different styles of electronic music – not a pure techno festival, but a journey through genres and tempos. The organizers rely on newcomers from the Bavarian House/Techno scene and established acts from the Nuremberg/Munich area.
Unlike many large techno festivals, Naturraum is consciously designed to be family-friendly – parents with children by the lake during the day, older festival-goers enjoy it just as much as Berlin techno fans. On-site, there are swimming opportunities at the Fichtelsee, food stalls, and cocktail bars. The atmosphere is relaxed – no big-city hustle and bustle.
The municipality of Fichtelberg is located in the district of Bayreuth, about 30 km northeast of the city of Wagner. With Schneeberg (1,051 m) and Ochsenkopf (1,024 m), the Fichtelgebirge has two thousand-meter peaks, plus numerous hiking trails and ski resorts in winter. Festival visitors often combine the open-air event with hiking, swimming, or mountain biking tours on the weekend.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Naturraum Open Air will once again attract electronic music fans from Upper Franconia, Bayreuth, Nuremberg, and all of Northern Bavaria to the idyllic Fichtelsee. Confirmed via the official Fichtelgebirge-Bayern page and the Region-Bayreuth platform.
13 hours of festival by the mountain lake – daytime program with electronic music, swimming opportunities, gastronomy, then the transition into the evening with DJs and live acts until 1 AM. Family-friendly atmosphere during the day, intense festival mood in the evening.
The complete lineup with headliners and support DJs will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on the social media channels – Instagram @naturraumopenair and the Facebook page. Based on experience, the lineup represents a mix of established regional DJs and newcomers from the Bavarian electronic scene.
