Family Easter days in Mehlmeisel Wildlife Park with Easter Bunny action
The Waldhaus Mehlmeisel Wildlife Park in the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park is one of the most beautiful wildlife park facilities in Northern Bavaria. On 30 hectares, native wild animals – red deer, fallow deer, wild boar, lynx, mouflon, and small animals – live in species-appropriate, spacious enclosures. Connected to the Waldhaus Nature Conservation Centre, which offers environmental education programs for schools and families, the park is a central pillar of nature experience education in the Fichtelgebirge.
At Easter, the park transforms into a special world of experience for children. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, the Easter Bunnies Hoppel, Moppel, Schlappohr, and Möhrchen are out and about in the enclosures. Those who find them receive Easter eggs, sweets, and small gifts. A magical treasure hunt through the wildlife enclosures.
To accompany the Easter Bunny hunt, the Waldhaus team offers face painting – bunnies, butterflies, animals. Families hike through the park, observe the wild animals, and enjoy a relaxing spring day in Upper Franconian nature. Over 800 children visited in previous years – the event is one of the largest family Easter events in the region.
A special feature: Children up to and including 13 years of age have free admission during the Easter holidays. Parents pay the regular wildlife park admission fee. This family policy makes the event accessible and attracts families from all over the Fichtelgebirge, Vogtland, and Upper Franconia.
Mehlmeisel is a small municipality on the southern edge of the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park, in the district of Bayreuth. With just under 2,000 inhabitants, it lies between Ochsenkopf (1,024 m) and Schneeberg (1,051 m) – the highest mountains in Franconia. The Waldhaus Mehlmeisel with its wildlife park is a typical example of an integrated nature conservation centre: animal husbandry, environmental education, family experience, and nature conservation pedagogy in one.
On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, and Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, the Waldhaus Mehlmeisel invites you to the annual Easter family program in the wildlife park. From 1 PM to 5 PM each day, the Easter Bunnies Hoppel, Moppel, Schlappohr, and Möhrchen will distribute Easter eggs and sweets to children who discover them in the park.
A treasure hunt through the wildlife enclosures, wildlife observation (red deer, fallow deer, mouflon, lynx), face painting, and a magical Easter experience in the spring park. Children up to 13 years free admission. Over 800 children visited in previous years, demonstrating the event's success.
