musiKKlub Schwerin — Concerts on the Market Square

Profile

The musiKKlub is a volunteer initiative by Schwerin's music scene, organizing weekly open-air concerts on the Market Square for years. The motto 'always on the market, always on Tuesdays, always at 7 p.m.' is deliberately catchy — the series is one of the firmly established summer dates in the event calendar of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's state capital.

Concept

Every Tuesday evening between May and September, the Market Square opens up for a concert. Genres and formats change weekly — from singer-songwriters to jazz trios and string quartets, to sea shanty choirs, folk bands, and rock formations. The stage is set up in front of the historic facade of Schwerin's City Hall, and the square offers space for several hundred listeners.

Opening 2026

The 2026 season kicks off on Monday, May 4th at 7:00 PM — exceptionally on a Monday because the concert is held in cooperation with the Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: LÓN (Icelandic Indie-Folk Trio) and Majkind (Rostock) will jointly open the series. This will be followed by 21 regular Tuesday concerts until the end of September.

Local Context

Schwerin has been increasingly in the tourism spotlight since the Residence Ensemble was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list (2024). The musiKKlub adds cultural depth to this tourism boost — providing free stages for the regional music scene in one of Northern Germany's most beautiful market squares.
