Classical music with an international festival orchestra at Schloss Blumenthal
Schloss Blumenthal is a Renaissance castle in family ownership, located in the Klingen district of the town of Aichach, in the Aichach-Friedberg district. Over the past few years, the castle courtyard has established itself as an open-air stage and the castle interior as a chamber music hall. With Musikfest Blumenthal, this has become an independent classical festival in 2021, now heading into its sixth edition.
At the heart of the festival is the Camerata Vitilo, a festival orchestra specially assembled for the event with around 40 musicians. The members come from leading German symphony orchestras and major music conservatories – a standard not typically expected at a castle festival in the countryside.
A special feature: Admission to the concerts is freely selectable – each visitor decides for themselves what they are willing to pay for a ticket. This concept lowers the barrier to classical music and aligns with the non-profit spirit of the organizer, Musikfest Blumenthal e.V., which actively highlights climate protection and social engagement in its profile.
From children's concerts to a 'Music meets Poetry Slam' promenade concert to a grand orchestral evening featuring Mendelssohn's 1st Symphony and Beethoven's 5th Symphony, the festival demonstrates that classical music in 2026 doesn't have to be academic. A 'Grenzenlos' (Borderless) concert, which blends the sound of the 1960s with classical music, is also part of the program.
Aichach-Klingen is located in the Wittelsbach Land, a region in northern Swabia with Baroque monasteries, medieval market squares, and a rich aristocratic history. Visitors to the festival can easily combine their stay with excursions to Aichach, Pöttmes, or Friedberg.
Three days of music festival at Schloss Blumenthal in Aichach-Klingen: From July 31 to August 2, 2026, Camerata Vitilo and guests will perform at various locations within the castle. The organizer is the non-profit Musikfest Blumenthal e.V.
The complete program will be published on February 27, 2026. Confirmed concerts include an orchestral evening 'A Night with Mozart', the cross-genre concert 'Grenzenlos' with the duo Tom & Flo, a children's concert, an education concert with young talents from the region, a 'Music meets Poetry Slam' promenade concert, and the grand festival finale with Mendelssohn's 1st and Beethoven's 5th Symphonies.
