Ludwigshafen as a Port City
Ludwigshafen am Rhein has been inextricably linked with its port since its founding. The port facilities along the Rhine are among the largest inland ports in Germany and are a significant economic factor – also and especially for BASF. The Hafenfest (Harbor Festival) commemorates this maritime identity of the city and makes the harbor area, often perceived as a purely industrial zone, accessible for a weekend.
TFC Ludwigshafen and Friendly Clubs
The organizer is TFC Ludwigshafen e.V., one of the city's most traditional sports and boating clubs, in close cooperation with the rowing club and other boating clubs. This club-driven organization shapes the character of the festival: not a large commercial event, but a community-oriented club gathering with high volunteer engagement.
Regattas, Boat Demonstrations, and Harbor Flair
The sporting highlight traditionally consists of rowing regattas in the harbor basins, demonstrations of sports and tour boats, and, if applicable, harbor tours and visits to historic watercraft. In addition, stage programs with bands and DJs, extensive club gastronomy with Palatinate specialties, and family activities ensure that the festival is interesting for all generations.
Connection to Parkinsel
The festival grounds An der Kammerschleuse are located at the transition to Ludwigshafen's Parkinsel – one of the city's most beautiful recreational areas. This makes visiting the festival an ideal combination with a walk in the city park and a view of the Rhine. Public transport has been adapted to the festival in the past (special service for RNV lines such as line 77).

Until the official program is published, the detailed schedule remains provisional. TFC Ludwigshafen usually publishes dates and the stage program a few weeks before the festival weekend on its own website and through the local press.

The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
- Friday evening: festive opening by TFC board, tapping of the first keg, and live music on the main stage
- Saturday: rowing and sports boat regattas in the harbor basins; water rescue and fire department demonstrations; stage program with regional bands
- Saturday evening: big stage concert / cover band; atmosphere at the harbor basin
- Sunday: Family Day with boat christening, boat demonstrations, children's sports activities, morning pint with brass music
- Sunday afternoon: award ceremony for the regattas, festival finale with live music
- Throughout: Palatinate club gastronomy (Saumagen, Bratwurst, fish specialties, Palatinate wine, beer)
- Public Transport: adapted service of bus line 77 (according to previous year's mode)
