Open-air concert series in summer 2026 on Otto-Fuchs-Platz in Meinerzhagen — three evenings with free live music
Meinerzhagen is a mountain town in the southern Märkischer Kreis (Arnsberg administrative district), located in the Sauerland region between Lüdenscheid, Olpe, and Gummersbach. With around 21,000 inhabitants, it is a small but economically strong town, characterized by its medium-sized businesses (including the locally based Otto Fuchs KG, whose name also graces the central square) and club life. The townscape is shaped by half-timbered houses and a revitalized city center around Otto-Fuchs-Platz and Kirchstraße. The Musik-Treff takes place on this very square in the summer.
The Musik-Treff is a series of summer open-air concerts initiated by Stadtmarketing Meinerzhagen e.V. Instead of just one large city festival per year, three individual evenings are scheduled on Otto-Fuchs-Platz over several weeks — each featuring one band, drinks stands from local restaurateurs, food stalls, and a cozy standing-room atmosphere. Admission is free, seating is limited, and many visitors bring their own chairs or stand.
The 2026 season includes three dates: Wednesday, June 10: Zack Ahoi — a cover band playing German and English pop classics. Wednesday, June 17: Band to be announced. Thursday, June 25: Spedition Sack — an established live band from the region with a rock and pop program. All evenings run from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. The series has been an insider tip in the Märkischer Kreis for years — perfect for anyone seeking a relaxed summer evening with good music under the open sky.
Since the inner-city renovation in the early 2010s, Otto-Fuchs-Platz has been Meinerzhagen's central event square. Surrounded by shops and restaurants, with benches, trees, and a fountain, it serves as a manageable concert venue — the sound carries well, and the acoustics are pleasant. On concert days, a small stage with lighting is set up, and traffic on the adjacent streets is slowed.
By car via the A 45 (Meinerzhagen exit); parking available in the city center (VolmestraĂźe parking garage, parking lots around Otto-Fuchs-Platz). By train: Meinerzhagen station on the Volmetalbahn (RB 25 between Cologne and LĂĽdenscheid); about a 5-minute walk to the city center from the station. Approximately 1 hour by train from Cologne, 30 minutes from LĂĽdenscheid.
The 2026 season of the Musik-Treff comprises three concert evenings in June. The series has been a fixture of the Meinerzhagen event calendar for years — Stadtmarketing Meinerzhagen e.V. organizes it on a voluntary basis with support from local restaurateurs and sponsors.
