Meinerzhagen Spring Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition coincides with Mother's Day — a special opportunity to make the traditional spring festival a celebration for families and generations. Starting at 12 PM, the event opens Otto-Fuchs-Platz for a stage program featuring a brass band, folk, and dance ensembles, complemented by a car show presented by several Meinerzhagen car dealerships.

Meinerzhagen Spring Festival — Town in May Mode
Are you travelling in the Sauerland and looking for a city festival that isn't overcrowded but offers genuine local flair? The Meinerzhagen Spring Festival has been the town's most important spring event for years. In 2026, the date falls on Mother's Day, May 10th, and thus on a day when families traditionally come together. Stadtmarketing Meinerzhagen and Volksbank in Südwestfalen eG invite the region for six hours to the Otto-Fuchs-Platz and the surrounding downtown streets.
The Stage Program
On the main stage at Otto-Fuchs-Platz, various musical formats alternate throughout the afternoon — the brass band opens, followed by folk groups, dance groups, and smaller bands. Several local clubs perform with shows or hands-on programs. The stage is low, the atmosphere is family-friendly — if you like, you can get your own coffee and just sit for a while.
Car Show and Market Stalls
Around Otto-Fuchs-Platz, local car dealerships present the latest models — a traditional component of the Meinerzhagen Spring Festival, which generations of families use to get an overview without sales pressure. In between, there are stalls with spring plants, regional food products, crafts, and club stands where local groups present their activities.
Extended Sunday Shopping
In conjunction with the city festival, the downtown shops open their doors on Sunday afternoon — Sunday shopping from 1 PM to 6 PM. This combination of a community festival and shopping opportunity is the hallmark of the Meinerzhagen Spring Festival and the reason why the event also attracts visitors from the surrounding communities of Halver, Kierspe, and Lüdenscheid.
Meinerzhagen and the Märkischer Kreis
Meinerzhagen is a medium-sized town in the Märkischer Kreis in the southern Sauerland, with around 21,000 inhabitants. The town is located on the A45 (Sauerlandlinie) and is home to several industrial companies, including the eponymous Otto Fuchs (aluminum technology). The Otto-Fuchs-Platz in the center, named after the company founder, is the usual stage for city events — weekly market, Advent market, and the spring festival Sunday.
