Monastery Serenity Meets Early Music

The former Cistercian convent of Altfriedland is located in the Altfriedland district of the town of Neuhardenberg, in eastern Brandenburg, in the Märkisch-Oderland district. Founded in the 13th century, it was one of the Mark's significant convents for women until the Reformation. Today, the star-vaulted refectory is an exceptional concert space.

22nd Season 2026 — Eight Concerts and a Cycling Tour

From July 26 to September 19, 2026, the Kultur Altfriedland association presents the 22nd concert series.

July 26 — J.S. Bach: The Art of Fugue

The Collegium Musicum '23 will perform Bach's late work on historical instruments.

August 1 — Like a Virgin

The ensemble False Relations presents "Marian songs from four centuries".

August 8 — Sister Moon and the Stars

La Villanella Basel combines sacred music with the Canticle of the Sun by Saint Francis of Assisi.

August 15 — The Image of John Dowland

The ensemble Musica getutscht celebrates the 400th anniversary of the English lutenist's death.

August 22 — Españoletas — Spanish Wind

Concierto Ibérico opens up the music of the Spanish Siglo de Oro.

August 29 — Arie antiche — the Original?

Students from the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler present original Italian arias.

September 12 — Inferno: A Homage to Dante

Musica sequenza plays Italian Baroque music reflected in Dante's 'Divine Comedy'. With a guided cycling tour starting from Wriezen (40 km, €20 incl. concert ticket).

September 19 — A Day in a Life

The Duo Luciole sings and plays lute songs from the Renaissance to the Baroque.
