60 Years of District Music Festival in Inn-Chiemgau

The District Music Festival Inn-Chiemgau is the most important event of the music district, which comprises around 50 music bands from the districts of Rosenheim, Traunstein, Altötting, Mühldorf, and Berchtesgadener Land. With its 60th edition in 2026, the festival reaches a jubilee year and will be hosted in Bad Endorf – a market town with a vibrant musical tradition in the Upper Bavarian Chiemgau region.

Musifest Endorf – A Festival Week of Brass Music

Under the name 'Musifest Endorf', the District Music Festival will bring together numerous brass music bands and traditional costume associations from May 13th to 18th, 2026. In the large festival tent in the industrial area, on the meadow between the industrial zone and Dorfbach, concerts, festive evenings, and dance events will take place daily. The organizers are the Bad Endorf Music Band and the GTEV Edelweiß Endorf.

Festival Sunday on May 17th, 2026

The highlight of the festival week is Festival Sunday on May 17th, 2026. Starting at 8 AM, the Bad Endorf Music Band will welcome arriving associations for a festival breakfast. At 10 AM, the church service with a joint sung mass will take place, followed at 11:15 AM by the grand festival parade with a marching competition – the participating bands will march through Bad Endorf in traditional costume and festive uniform, judged by a panel of experts. In the afternoon, the festival will conclude in the tent with a bar and a brass music get-together, traditionally accompanied by the well-known regional band 'Preaner Buam'.

Bad Endorf – Spa Town in the Chiemgau

The market town of Bad Endorf is located in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria's Chiemgau region. The municipality is known as a spa town with a thermal bath and for its location on the southwestern edge of Lake Chiemsee. With around 8,500 inhabitants, Bad Endorf forms a cultural center between Rosenheim and Traunstein. The Bad Endorf Music Band is one of the town's traditional associations and has prepared the 60th District Music Festival with great volunteer commitment.

Bavarian Brass Music Culture

Bavarian brass music is a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage and shapes social life in every Upper Bavarian community. District music festivals like the one in Endorf are the annual highlight: over 1,000 musicians in traditional costume, played marches, polkas, and brass music compositions, as well as the camaraderie in the festival tent create the atmosphere. The marching competition is a traditional discipline: an expert jury assesses the precision, bearing, and musical level of the marching bands.
