The Seefest in Rimsting on Lake Chiemsee is a classic Upper Bavarian lake festival organized by the Rimsting Traditional Costume Association (Trachtenverein). On Sunday afternoon, the Rimsting/Westernach beach area transforms into a festival ground with brass band music from the Bad Endorf band, whip crackers (Goaßlschnalzer), Schuhplattler dancers, a lucky dip (Glückshafen), and culinary offerings. The highlight is a grand firework display after dark.

The Seefest Rimsting 2026 will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2026, starting at 2 PM at the Rimsting/Westernach beach area. The organizer is the Rimsting Trachtenverein. Program: Blaskapelle Bad Endorf, Goaßlschnalzer, Schuhplattler, Glückshafen, children's carousel and bouncy castle, and a grand firework display in the evening. Rain date in case of bad weather: July 5, 2026.

The Seefest in Rimsting returns to the Westernach beach area on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Starting at 2 PM, the Blaskapelle Bad Endorf will entertain the afternoon, complemented by Goaßlschnalzer, Schuhplattler, and traditional costume groups.

Food and drinks include barbecue specialties, grilled fish on a stick (Steckerlfisch), beer, as well as coffee and cake. For children, a carousel and a bouncy castle are available, and small prizes will be raffled at the Glückshafen. The highlight will be the grand firework display over Lake Chiemsee after dark. In case of bad weather, the festival will be postponed to July 5, 2026.

Getting There

By train to Prien am Chiemsee station (Munich – Salzburg line), then continue by bus or taxi to Rimsting/Westernach. By car via the A 8 motorway (exit Bernau or Prien).

Admission and Parking

Children under 14: Free admission. Adults: Admission to the beach area according to the day ticket price (catering during the festival). Free parking on site. Guest card discounts are not valid on the festival day.

Seefest on Lake Chiemsee

Rimsting is located on the western shore of Lake Chiemsee in the district of Rosenheim (AGS 09187) and is part of the touristically significant Chiemgau region. The Westernach beach area offers direct access to the lake and is the venue for the annual Seefest organized by the Rimsting Trachtenverein. In summer, locals and holiday guests gather here on Lake Chiemsee for an afternoon and evening between the lake, traditional customs, and brass band music.

Program Outline

The program starts at 2 PM. The Blaskapelle Bad Endorf, Goaßlschnalzer, and Schuhplattler from the Trachtenverein take turns on stage. For children, there is a carousel and a bouncy castle; small prizes are traditionally raffled at the Glückshafen. Fireworks on Lake Chiemsee

The highlight of the festival is a "grand firework display" after dark. Against the backdrop of Lake Chiemsee, with the distant Chiemsee Islands of Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee clearly visible, a special spectacle unfolds – both from the beach area and from the opposite shore.

The Rimsting Trachtenverein organizes the festival, supplemented by catering contributions from local clubs. The event is weather-dependent; a rain date is scheduled. Children under 14 have free admission; free parking is available at the beach area. Discounts via guest cards are not possible.
