Chamber music with the Princely Löwenstein Court Music
The concert series »Music in Franconian Castles« is a curatorial highlight in the South German cultural calendar. The association of the same name, supported by dedicated patrons, opens selected privately inhabited castles in the Haßberge Nature Park for chamber concerts – places that are normally inaccessible. Three to four concerts per year form a season, with each concert taking place in a different castle. Tickets are available via reservix.de and ADticket.de.
The 2026 season is spread across three confirmed dates: June 13th at Schloss Friesenhausen with cellist Bernhard Hentrich (Bach's Cello Suites), September 6th at Schloss Eyrichshof with Bolero Berlin – five musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic exploring Latin American music styles – and October 10th at Schloss Burgpreppach with the Princely Löwenstein Court Music. A fourth performance by Cappella Musica Dresden is announced but without a fixed date yet.
Schloss Burgpreppach is a primarily baroque castle complex in the market town of Burgpreppach in the Haßberge district. Built in the 18th century, the castle features a representative hall where the concert takes place. The acoustics of the historic room are particularly suited for wind music and chamber ensembles with a reduced sound volume – ideal for the »Harmoniemusik« of the late 18th century.
The Princely Löwenstein Court Music is a historical wind ensemble that cultivates Franconian and South German wind music from the 18th and early 19th centuries. The program in Burgpreppach combines Franconian composers – musicians from the Mainfranken region and the Franconian court orchestras – with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose wind serenades and harmonies significantly shaped the genre. A concert that makes a little-known chapter of music history audible.
The concert offers rare access to Schloss Burgpreppach, a noble residence in the Haßberge district that is otherwise privately inhabited. The Princely Löwenstein Court Music – a historical wind ensemble preserving the tradition of Franconian court orchestras – brings 18th-century wind music to the baroque hall. Mozart's wind serenades and harmonies are presented alongside works by Franconian composers who served in the noble courts of Mainfranken. The acoustics of the historic room and the intimate concert setting make the evening a special experience.
The complete list of works and exact times will be published on schloesser-und-musik.de and in the advance booking systems.
