Year-round concert series in the Stadtpfarrkirche St. Marien featuring classical, jazz, vocal, accordion, and Advent music
The Stadtpfarrkirche St. Marien in Müncheberg is a small sensation as a concert venue: the late Gothic hall church, begun in the 13th century, offers exceptional acoustics, making it a favorite performance space for many ensembles from Berlin and Brandenburg. Müncheberg itself is a town of just under 7,000 inhabitants in the Märkisch-Oderland district, located between Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder).
The Müncheberg Concerts are spread throughout the calendar year — not a festival compression, but a dense concert series as a continuous format. The New Year's Concert on January 11 opens with the Dresdner Bach-Solisten and Lars Jung (reading): works by Vivaldi, Marcello, Telemann, Bach. This is followed by chamber music (Dina Ivanova/Michael Wehrmeyer, Jan 25), guitar concert (Oliver Jaeger, Feb 22), Ensemble Consortium Sedinum with works by female Baroque composers (Mar 8), and the Hugo Distler Chor Berlin (Passion Service Mar 29).
Unusual programs are scheduled for spring and summer 2026: catfish row will play Gershwin and Ellington in a chamber jazz setting on April 19. Einhard Georg Schmidt will pay tribute to Udo Jürgens on April 25. The Brandenburgisches Konzertorchester with Georgia Tryfona will perform "Tulpen aus Amsterdam" (Vivaldi, Strauß, Dvořák) on May 3. The summer highlight: Akkordeonorchester Musika Akkordia on June 21 and Berliner Frauenensemble holz&blech on June 28 with French repertoire (Piaf, Debussy, Dukas) — "Under the Müncheberg Sky".
After the summer break, the program continues with folk-blues (Dennis B. Markheim, Sep 6), a concert-reading with Helmut Oehring (Sep 20), the Chinese-German ensemble Beijing Floboe (Oct 11, works by W.F. Bach, Amann, Scelsi), and the Trio Brontë with Rihm, Fauré, Schubert (Nov 22). Two highlights will shape the Advent season: the Knabenchor der Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) on December 13 and the Advent Concert by Musika Akkordia on December 20.
The annual program is complemented by four exhibitions in the church: "Zweieinhalbsekunden" (Matthias Seldte, photography, Jan 9–Mar 1), "31 LICHT" (Jan Scheffler, photography, Mar 6–May 3), paintings by Sandra Hübner (May 8–July 2), and "Diverse Lebensgemeinschaften" by Alexandra Weidmann (July 10–Sep 20). A book presentation (Rainald Manthe, Mar 20) and a reading (Gila Freis, May 7) round off the program. Exhibition opening hours: Mon/Thu/Fri 10 AM–4 PM, Tue 1 PM–6 PM, Sun 1 PM–5 PM — Free admission.
The Müncheberg Concerts 2026 are structured as a year-round series, with around 19 concerts between January and December at the Stadtpfarrkirche St. Marien Müncheberg.
The season opens on January 11 with the Dresdner Bach-Solisten (works by Vivaldi, Marcello, Telemann, Bach; reading by Lars Jung). Chamber music, guitar, female Baroque composers, and jazz characterize the spring. June brings two summer highlights with the Akkordeonorchester Musika Akkordia (June 21) and the Berliner Frauenensemble holz&blech (June 28, French repertoire featuring Piaf, Debussy, Dukas).
In autumn, the program includes folk-blues (Dennis B. Markheim, Sep 6), a concert-reading (Helmut Oehring, Sep 20), the Chinese-German ensemble Beijing Floboe (Oct 11), and Trio Brontë (Nov 22). Advent is marked by the Knabenchor der Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) (Dec 13) and the Advent Concert by Musika Akkordia (Dec 20).
The concert series is accompanied by four exhibitions (photography and painting) and two readings in the church.
