A Summer Institution on the North Sea
The Kultur.Sommer.Garten. series is the musical backbone of the Büsum summer. For over four months, from May to the end of September, there is live music twice a week in the Wohlfühlgarten — the spa park right next to the promenade. The venue is the Chormuschel, a freestanding pavilion with a semi-circular architecture that serves as a natural resonance space. The audience sits in a semi-circle on loungers and benches, facing the stage and with the spacious garden behind them.
The Program Concept
The program is deliberately broad: Bands, choirs, and solo artists from Northern Germany and beyond perform. Classical wind ensembles meet Shanty choirs, Jazz combos meet singer-songwriters, Big Bands meet children's programs with puppet theater. The series is curated by Tourismus Marketing Service Büsum GmbH and is part of the summer tourist offerings — which is why it maintains a high standard and features many regular acts that return every year.
Performance Times
- Mondays and Thursdays: usually 3:30 PM (afternoon concert)
- July–August: additional Monday evening concerts at 7:00 PM
- Special Program: Puppet theater Kreft's Puppenbühne with fairy tales and wooden figures until the end of August
