5 days of electronic music, art, and awareness in the Schlaubetal Nature Park
Since its inception, the MIT DIR Festival has established itself as one of Brandenburg's most consistent awareness festivals. "Awareness" here means: a dedicated team present at the festival, actively supporting safety and inclusion, enforcing clear rules against discrimination and harassment, and promoting a culture of respectful coexistence. Glass bottles, weapons, open flames, and discriminatory symbols are explicitly forbidden. The concept attracts an audience that specifically seeks this level of care—unlike at larger commercial festivals.
The venue is Klingemühle (Klingemühle 4, 15848 Friedland) in the Schlaubetal Nature Park—one of Brandenburg's most beautiful nature reserves. Streams, forests, and small mill facilities characterize the landscape in southeastern Brandenburg, near the Polish border. The festival backdrop—an old watermill amidst the forest—sets it apart from urban festivals. Camping by the woods, a nearby swimming lake: this is festival camping in its most romantic Brandenburg style.
The musical program focuses on electronic music in all its varieties—Techno, House, Ambient, Bass, Experimental. Five stages are spread across the grounds, with over 100 DJs playing a consistently curated program. Furthermore, the festival is explicitly open to art, workshops, and participatory projects—from yoga and sound healing to DIY workshops and political discussion rounds. This diversity distinguishes MIT DIR from a pure rave festival.
MIT DIR is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for sustainable festival culture. Specifically, this means: composting toilets, exclusively vegan and vegetarian catering, renewable energy, and clear waste management concepts. The festival is organized cashless (cashless system). Solidarity tickets (€135) enable participation for low-income individuals—application deadline May 1st, 2026. Motorhomes require a separate ticket. Camping opens Thursday 10 AM, closes Tuesday noon. Thoughtful festival organization.
